The International Conference on Advanced Robotics and Intelligent Systems (ARIS) was founded in 2013 with the mission of establishing a high-quality international forum for researchers and practitioners working in robotics, intelligent systems, and AI-enabled technologies. From its very beginning, ARIS has aimed to bridge theoretical foundations, intelligent algorithms, and real-world robotic applications, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration across academia and industry.
ARIS was initiated by Tzuu-Hseng S. Li at National Cheng Kung University, marking the first step toward building a sustainable and internationally connected robotics conference rooted in Taiwan. Since its establishment, ARIS has been continuously supported by the Robotics Society of Taiwan (RST), whose long-term commitment has played a critical role in ensuring the conference’s continuity, academic quality, and international standing.
Over the past decade, ARIS has been hosted by leading universities in Taiwan, including National Cheng Kung University, National Chung Hsing University, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, National Tsing Hua University, National Taipei University of Technology, and National Taiwan University. The conference has covered a broad spectrum of topics such as advanced robotics, intelligent control, autonomous systems, human–robot interaction, multi-agent systems, and AI-driven robotic intelligence, reflecting both emerging research trends and real-world challenges.
From 2016 to 2020, ARIS was consistently held at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, reflecting the conference's expansion in scale and its strong engagement with applied research and industry communities. In 2021, despite global travel restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, ARIS was successfully organized as an online conference, ensuring uninterrupted academic exchange and demonstrating the conference's organizational resilience.
Each ARIS edition has been led by distinguished General Chairs who are internationally recognized scholars in robotics and intelligent systems. Together with the sustained support of the RST, their leadership has ensured the conference's academic rigor, continuity, and long-term vision. Today, ARIS stands as one of the most established and enduring international robotics conferences in Taiwan, serving as a key platform for presenting cutting-edge research, fostering global collaboration, and shaping future directions in robotics and intelligent systems.
